My story

My path into leadership wasn’t exactly planned.

“I kept looking at businesses, seeing the challenges they faced, and thinking: How can I help them?”

I originally attended West Virginia University to study Civil Engineering. I thought I had a pretty clear idea of what my career was supposed to look like.

Then I found Vector Marketing and Cutco.

What began as an opportunity became a 17-year career in sales, recruiting, training, coaching, leadership, and organizational development. Over that time, I’ve had the privilege of recruiting, training, and developing thousands of individuals, leading a National Championship organization, and earning Hall of Fame recognition with more than $20 million in organizational sales.

But the numbers were never the part that made leadership most meaningful to me. It was the people—watching someone grow in confidence, helping a leader discover what they were capable of, and seeing a team accomplish something they once thought was out of reach.

Over time, I began noticing the same leadership and operational challenges in businesses outside my own world. That question—How can I help them?—became True North Development.

Why True North exists

Most business owners don’t lack ambition. They lack clarity.

As businesses grow, the owner often becomes the bottleneck. Expectations stay in someone’s head. Communication gets inconsistent. People are busy, but not always aligned. Growth creates more complexity instead of more freedom.

True North Development helps leaders build clarity, structure, accountability, and leadership systems that allow the business to move forward without everything depending on one person.

Beyond business

Leadership matters because life outside the business matters.

I’m married to my wife, Morgan, and we’re raising our son, Jason, and daughter, Olivia. My family is a big part of why I care about helping leaders build businesses and careers that are successful without consuming everything else that matters.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about endurance sports. Ironman-distance racing, marathons, and ultramarathons have reinforced many of the same lessons I’ve learned through leadership: consistency beats intensity, discipline matters when motivation disappears, and growth usually happens outside your comfort zone.

Moving fast doesn’t help much if you’re headed in the wrong direction.

Values-driven leadership

Leadership is a responsibility.

Leadership isn’t about having the biggest title or becoming the most important person in the room. It’s about becoming someone capable of helping other people succeed.

  • Serve before you demand
  • Set clear expectations
  • Keep your word
  • Have the difficult conversation
  • Give people opportunities to grow
  • Take responsibility when things aren’t working
  • Build people, not just businesses
  • Stay anchored to values and direction

Start a conversation

You don’t have to figure everything out alone.

Sometimes the next breakthrough doesn’t come from working harder. It comes from getting outside of your own business long enough to see it clearly.

Schedule a Discovery Call (opens in a new tab)

No pressure. No complicated pitch. Just a conversation about where you are, where you want to go, and whether I can help.
